The relationship of micro-organisms with living things, the basic functions of the immune system, vaccination and antibiotics, and the impacts of epidemics and pandemics.
The kinetic molecular theory, atomic theory and models, and the subatomic particles including protons, neutrons, quarks, electrons, and leptons.
The types and effects of electromagnetic radiation and the properties, behaviours, and ways of sensing light.
Plate tectonic movement, major geological events of local significance, and the layers of Earth.

The exchange of goods, ideas, arts, and culture between civilizations — the Silk Road, Indian Ocean trade, the Crusades, and the Columbian Exchange; where exchanges also brought conflict or disease, treat it honestly at a general level and from multiple perspectives, without graphic detail.
The age of exploration, expansion, and colonization and how it connected and changed different parts of the world; include honestly and respectfully that colonization had serious and unequal consequences for many peoples — especially Indigenous peoples of the Americas — at a general, understanding-focused level and from multiple perspectives, without graphic detail or trauma specifics.
How populations and living standards changed in this period — the movement of peoples, growth of cities, and changes in health; include honestly and respectfully that some migration was forced and caused great suffering (such as enslavement and displacement), acknowledged at a general, age-appropriate level and centring the humanity and resilience of those affected, without graphic detail or statistics of suffering.
